Protect your privacy without losing the conversation.

Most useful chat safety habits are simple: share less than you think you need to, notice pressure early, and leave when a conversation stops feeling right.

Protect identifying information

Use a display name that is not connected to your legal name or other accounts. Do not post your address, phone number, workplace, routine, passwords, financial information, or precise location. Check photos and camera backgrounds for documents, reflections, landmarks, and metadata.

Recognize pressure and scams

Be cautious when someone quickly asks for money, gift cards, login codes, intimate images, secrecy, or a move to another platform. Claims of an emergency do not make a payment request safe. Never open unexpected files or links from someone you have just met.

Keep consent clear

Consent is specific, informed, and reversible. Ask before sending sexual content, starting voice or video, taking screenshots, or changing the subject toward intimacy. Silence, previous interest, and the name of a room are not consent.

Respond when something goes wrong

Stop replying, close the conversation, and preserve evidence if you may need to report serious behavior. Do not negotiate with threats or blackmail. Contact local emergency services when anyone is in immediate danger, and use the relevant platform or legal reporting channels for exploitation or criminal conduct.
